From Cali to Elizabeth — nearly fifty years of Colombian baking.
In 1976, the Rojas family opened Don Ricky on Morris Avenue — the first Colombian-owned business on the block and the first Colombian bakery in all of New Jersey. Founders Ricky and Teresa brought their recipes straight from Cali, Colombia, sourcing the right yucca flour when almost no one in the area imported it.
The bakery quickly became more than a place to buy bread. Neighbors new to the country came in for guidance, a warm welcome, and a taste of home. Today Sandra Rojas carries on the family business, and the bakers still start before the sun rises so every batch is as fresh as possible — all guided by one motto: calidad y atención, quality and attention.
